Jan van Zanen, mayor of Utrecht, will give a welcoming speech in the Aula of the University Hall.  He will open this day with a statement on Intercultural Communication in the city of Utrecht.

 

Rodaan Al Galidi
Collegetour interview

Rodaan Al Galidi, author of the book ‘Hoe ik talent voor het leven kreeg…’. Raised during war in Iraq, he fled because of military service and spent nine years in an asylum seekers’ centre. Al Galidi will be interviewed by Harald Hendrix, director of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Rome and professor Italian at University Utrecht.

Lecture – De stem van De Ander (The voice of the Other)

Petra Stienen – from her international experience as a diplomat, diversity advisor and politician, Petra Stienen will pursue the question of what it means to keep one’s ear to the ground with The Other. How can you optimally employ this basic principle of intercultural communication as a professional? Which pitfalls can you encounter? And how does the sound of the voice of The Other sound in multilingual situations? Questions of the audience are welcome.
